Virginia Episcopal School
Founded in 1916, Virginia Episcopal School is an independent, co-ed boarding and day school for students in grades 9-12. Located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains just minutes away from the vibrant city of Lynchburg, Va., we invite you to get to know our engaging community. Here, we guide students to strive to be their very best—what we call Toward Full Stature—through academic, ethical, spiritual and personal growth. We’re intentionally small.
With 260 students from across the U.S. and around the world and a 6:1 student/faculty ratio, students find our community engaging and make friends easily. Every step of the way, students are supported by dedicated faculty, coaches, their advisor and peers, all of whom know them well. We have a dynamic learning environment. Our faculty focus on delivering hands-on, innovative and intellectually playful learning experiences.
Students can pursue interests through a wide range of arts, 32 athletic teams, and afternoon programs like Robotics, jazz ensemble and performing in the musical. And our Student Life program—where students gain practical skills and learn from guest speakers who open their minds to new perspectives—is designed to prepare students well to navigate life in college and beyond. And we create lots of time for FUN! Throughout their time here, students work to reflect the Portrait of a VES Graduate, which sets them up for success in college and life.
VES graduates are self-aware; curious, innovative thinkers and producers; mindful leaders; committed to serving their communities, and ready to navigate and continue to grow in our dynamic world.
