The Bement School
The Bement School, founded in 1925 and located in historic Deerfield, MA, is a co-educational junior boarding and day school serving 222 students in grades kindergarten through grade 9. Boarding is offered for grades 3-9. We take extraordinary care of our students, as they learn in the classrooms, compete on the fields, and perform on the stage. Students flourish at Bement. The depth and understanding as well as the quality of work from faculty and staff to know and understand each student is what helps and transforms each student to become their best self. Students come to Bement excited to learn every day because they are surrounded by other students who are eager to learn and teachers dedicated to them.
Our students are happy to be at school each day and treat one another with kindness and respect. Students develop their artistic and athletic abilities or discover them! Every day, students are surrounded by opportunities. Bement is a school community that both nurtures a student and pushes them academically, that allows their joy and creativity to blossom and develop new passions, that inspires students to bring their best to each day, and that knows and understands your child. Intentionally small by design to give the care and attention that is unmatched in any other school is a hallmark of Bement. The life and community we provide for students with the many opportunities to learn and grow, academically, artistically, emotionally, athletically, and socially, requires students to dive in at Bement.
Students emerge from Bement with a sense of self, direction, of who are they are and what they are in the world. Students also leave Bement with the understanding of the value of community, of their part in a community, of their responsibility to that community and to the world. We do that better than anyone else. Bement students have a sense of accountability, a sense that they have truly been part of something, a sense of belonging. This is uniquely the result of a Bement education. Recent graduates have matriculated at following secondary schools: Deerfield, Phillips Andover Academy, Phillips Exeter Academy, Milton, Lawrenceville, Choate Rosemary Hall, Taft, NMH, Tabor, Williston Northampton, Govenor’s, Loomis Chaffee, Blair, Westminster, Suffield, Hotchkiss, and Berkshire.
