Christchurch School
"At Christchurch School, we combine 100 years of tradition, community, and relationships with a dynamic and innovative approach to learning that meets each child where they are and prepares them to succeed in a rapidly changing world."
Here at Christchurch, we have an innovative way of getting our students to learn and think about their place in the world in a boarding school environment. Our coeducational 9-12 Episcopal boarding and day school offers a unique opportunity and space for learning in a community along the Rappahannock River in Virginia. The school curriculum is framed around the phrase, “Set YOUR course at the river.” This curriculum moves from localized thinking to more globalized perspectives and ways of thinking. This curriculum is coupled with hands-on integrations of place-based experiences in all subjects and student self-advocacy with faculty support and trend-based grading.
With signature programs such as our Learning Skills Program and our place-based education programs, students create close relationships with our faculty as well as in local and global communities and fully immerse themselves in bettering and understanding these spaces and their individual sense of place.
Our nationally ranked sailing team also provides students an interaction with the sailing community, the ability to practice on the Rappahannock River, and the flexibility to continue their pursuits. Co-curricular and elective offerings include athletics, visual and performing arts, a river and outdoor program, and the opportunity to enhance creativity in our Makerspace, equipped with laser technology and 3D printing.
